If you’re new here, every month I share how I’m doing with my goals for the year. This includes personal, blogging/business, and of course financial goals. This post holds me accountable to the goals I set every year, but more importantly, it helps my readers to see that having financial goals in place are the key to succeeding with money. If you need help setting financial goals, make sure you read this post here on the steps to setting financial goals.
2017 Blogging Goals
BIG Goal this year: Help 1,000 people/families achieve financial success in 2017 through my course, Real Life Money Plan. ****I am sooooooo close to meeting this goal already!!! Mostly due to Real Life Money Plan being included in this year’s Ultimate Homemaking Bundle (which today is the LAST DAY to get it!).

You know, just a normal work day for me. 🙂
2017 Personal Goals
Work out 2x a week using these free videos. (totally did not make this happen this month…)
Average 10,000 steps a day – 5 days a week (tracking this with my FitBit). Here’s my average (I didn’t wear my FitBit while in Nashville for my financial coach training so it messed up my averages. 🙁 ):
Complete Crystal’s 15 Days to a Healthier You Challenge Done.
2017 Marriage Goals
Write one love note to Pat every month. Done.
Spend one hour every day with just Pat. Done this month. We actually started binge watching 13 Reasons Why which was a good but very, very hard show to watch. I’ll tell you that it’s not for teenagers even though that’s what it appears to be for – it’s actually more for parents. I know Pat and I took note of things we need to make sure to teach and instill in our children as they reach those teenage years. Because Pat and I were the last kids to graduate high school without social media or smart phones so we have a lot to learn.
Take one secluded vacation with Pat this year (This might not actually happen – read this post for our crazy financial month, but we’re discussing possibly pushing the vacation towards the end of the year instead of in the summer.)
I got see Dave Ramsey at my Financial Coach training – didn’t get to actually meet him sadly, but it was awesome to get to learn from him!
I did get to meet Chris Hogan though! He’s a big ol’teddy bear and so funny in person!
2017 Mothering Goals
Take my children on a fun outing once-a-month (Done. The boys went fishing – okay so technically Charlotte and I didn’t go: toddlers + fishing hooks + boats + sitting still = ain’t gonna happen. But both of my boys caught their very first fish all by themselves!!!!!!!)
Conner
Collin
Set aside dedicated time for help with schoolwork and arts/crafts Done this month.
2017 Spiritual Goals
The obligatory Easter photo…which only took a bazillion tries to capture. 🙂
I did really great last year with my spiritual goals so I’m not setting any crazy goals for this year. 🙂
Pray 3x a Day (I wasn’t super consistent with this but definitely am getting better.)
Complete 3 Bible Studies outside of the Women’s Bible Study Group at church. Finished my Lent study and now I’m working my way through this one for Pentecost.
Oh and I forgot to share this from last month – my mom made the “family cake” (everyone in my mom’s family loves this cake and its made with my mom’s mom’s homemade frosting – so good!) for my birthday and the kids got to decorate it for me. Ignore my un-wiped down table. 🙂
2017 Financial Goals
Pay off mortgage by 12/31/17.
- Balance in December 2016: $27,938.08
- Current balance: $23,985.19 (most current payment hasn’t calculated yet…)
Save to replace roof by May 2017. We decided that we’re scratching this goal until after we get our house paid off.
Savings goal: $4,000Current balance: $1,000
What are your goals for 2017?
Congratulations on your progress! My weekend step totals are almost always much lower than during the week, too. I don’t think I even hit 5,000 steps yesterday (Sunday)!
I have four goals for this year: (1) read 24 books that I really want to read; (2) try three new-to-me activities, (3) run three 5K races, and (4) find a way to hate cooking and meal planning less. 🙂
