Date Night. Is it just me, or does date night get harder to make a reality after years of marriage, kids, pets, and work start being thrown into the mix? I swear, date night was easier when I could just say, “Hey, you wanna go out to eat tonight and then maybe a movie?” when I didn’t have to be intentional about it. Not to mention that planning childcare for just a few hours for a date night takes more planning than attempting to plan a wedding. But there’s another, albeit more important reason why in the Fearon household we don’t do date night often….it’s not in the budget.
We attempt to make the “at home” date-night experience work, but that usually ends up being a movie on Netflix or Amazon Prime. Sometimes that just gets old.
So how do you keep it interesting? How do you do something fun, exciting, and new without having to plan (and potentially pay for) childcare and transportation? How do you have an amazing at-home date night experience without doing the same ol’, same ol’?
You Melt.
I’ll be honest, when I first saw these massage videos on other websites, I thought “there’s no way that I can convince Pat to do this” and “this might be awkward”. However, I figured if I could convince him that his daily Redbull habit was bad for our budget and debt-payoff goals, I could convince him that these massage techniques would be good for our marriage.
It took a minute to convince him, but eventually he gave in and let’s just say that we’re both happy that he did! 🙂 One of the reasons it was easy(ish) to convince him is that the videos are short clips making them easy to watch without getting bored or bogged down with too much information.
Another amazing element to these videos is that when you’re massaging each other, you’re not tempted to discuss all the stressful aspects of marriage – debt, kids, education, work, the grocery budget, etc. But through meaningful connection via physical touch, you are brought closer together which makes discussing those difficult topics, like paying off that dreaded student loan debt, easier.
I mean, can you really get that frustrated after receiving an amazing massage?
And if you’re anything like us, it has probably been awhile since the two of you did something completely new (and maybe awkward) together, but honestly, how much fun did y’all have when you were dating doing new, awkward, and exciting things together?
Probably a lot of fun.
And that’s what this did for us, it allowed us to have a new, exciting date night without ever leaving home. Which for me was amazing because it meant less stress trying to find a babysitter, less money spent on a fancy dinner, gas to get there, and then to do the same ol’date; dinner and movie (which, we haven’t actually been to a movie theater in five years…).
So what exactly are these massage videos all about? Denis and Emma, the creators are a married couple from Australia that created these videos to help couples connect in a deep, meaningful way. There is no nudity or anything like that in these videos and they are all professionally filmed so you receive the best experience possible!
The Basic Series This series starts with correcting some of the most common massage mistakes and showing you the foundations of your massage with long, sweeping strokes. You watch the short videos with a technique or tip in each, and it ends with a 5-minute follow-along massage routine.
The Highlights Series This is where things start to get really good! You learn to look for the sore spots on each other’s bodies and how to work them. The neck, shoulders, lower back, arms, head… you’ll find places you didn’t even know that were sore! After you learn the nine techniques from this series, there’s a 15-minute massage routine to follow along to. Hands still don’t hurt!
The Deep Tissue Series So many people, myself included, love Deep Tissue stuff but it shouldn’t be over-emphasized. Denis leaves these tips to the very end for good reason, but they are such great techniques. It ends with an epic 30-minute massage follow along massage routine.
Now for the really good stuff……Denis and Emma have an amazing offer just for my readers!

This looks like a super fun date! My husband would love something like this and I could definitely use a good massage too. What a great idea!
That’s so awesome that your hubs would love this — it took a minute to convince mine but thankfully he caved. 🙂
