As part of our July No Spend Challenge and Financial Freedom Fridays, I am sharing with you how I score two of my favorite things for free – clothes and books. I have not actually paid for clothes in over a year and I have not paid for a single book since March but my library continues to grow and so does my closet.
Free Clothes
If you read my How to Stretch Your Clothing Budget post, you know that I commonly use Swagbucks to score free gift cards to places like Target, Walmart, PayPal and even Staples. I even sometimes use InboxDollars to score free money to purchase things. However, there is one place that I love above the rest for scoring free clothing and that is thredUP.
If you follow me on Instagram, you have probably seen me post shots of some of my free clothes. Here are some of the free clothes that I have scored for myself.
I forgot to include a shirt in the first photo:
How it works, if you sign up through my referral link you get $10 off your first purchase and then I score a $10 credit. You can refer as many people as you want to.
Another way that I score free clothing on thredUP is by selling some of my old clothes to thredUP. They will send you a bag for free to send in your like new brand name clothing. This is a great way to clean out your closet (or your kids’ closet!) and to score new clothing.
Free Books
I love reading and if you follow my 2014 Goals posts you know that I always have an updated reading list for the new month. I usually attempt to read at least three books every month and the majority of these books I receive free.
I look daily on Amazon under Free Kindle Books for any books that may be of interest to me to download to my tablet. I also on Amazon have a profile that I keep updated with contact information. I use this profile to review the books that I have read which helps gain my profile visibility to authors who may be searching for people to read their book and provide a review.
I have been contacted several times by authors & publishing companies to review their new book for free in exchange for my honest review on Amazon – no blog required! It is a pretty sweet gig if I do say so myself.
What are your favorite items to score free and how do you do it?

These are great tips – thanks!
